Sony Xperia Z3 Compact : Camera Review Matko Pecotic December 6, 2015 Phones Sony Xperia Z3 Compact comes with 20.7 MP (5248 х 3936 pixels) back auto focus camera and LED flash. The front 2.2 MP camera can record 1080p video at 30fps. For Z3 Compact camera review, we tried out the cameras and the camera application interface during day time and during night in city center. Thanks to the powerful Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset (Quad-Core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 processor and 2GB of RAM, the back camera can also record 4K video (2160p@30fps, 1080p@60fps or 720p@120fps which means slow motion video). The thing we love is that you get a physical key for camera on the side. That makes snapping easier. This side camera key is also crucial for snapping images underwater (where touch sensitivity does not work)! Camera interface looks clean and simple to use. It’s taken from Sony Cyber-Shot compact cameras. Taking a photo is not instant. It takes a second or second and a half. . . Z3 Compact Front 2.2 MP camera Front 2,2 MP camera can record Full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second, which is the current maximum on smart phones front camera. During day time in great light conditions photos are very good if you’re about to snap selfies. You will find noise on details and see blurred details, but not to that extent that photos would not be usable. Color reproduction is ok but still photos look a bit washed out. For Z3 Compact camera review in low light conditions, our Z3 Compact front camera has of course a lot of noise, and we have seen better cameras on smart phones in these conditions. Also, the color reproduction fails. Video looks a bit better then photos. You can check the video samples just below. . . . Z3 Compact Back 20.7 MP camera 20.7 megapixel rear camera has a sensor size that is embedded in most compact cameras in price range up to $300 (sensor size is 1/2.3″). Autofocus is fast, while LED flash can reach up to 3 meters, although the flash itself looks small. Picture quality in good light conditions is the same as with compact cameras costing up to $350. To conclude for Z3 Compact camera review, back camera photos ar usable for travelling or family usage. In low light conditions, photos are solid but again, we have seen better on smart phones (especially iPhone 5S). Video can be recorded in 4K, or HD HD 720p resolution with 120 fps slow motion. You can check the samples below. . . . It’s worth mentioning that Z3 Compact now has Android OS, v4.4.4 (KitKat), but upgrade to v5.0 (Lollipop) is planned. .
