Sony Xperia budget smartphones always had inferior display. Even their IPS LCD technology in Xperia M4 model for instance, was crappy. So when reviewing Sony Xperia M4 Aqua, we decided to check is’t 5.0-inch ISP LCD display seriously.
This IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is covered by a scratch-resistant glass. It’s not Gorilla glass but still it feels good in hands and very uptight since this device is waterproof (IP68 certified – dust and water proof up to 1.5 meter and 30 minutes). With software multitouch technology (up to 4 fingers) there is no question of it’s preciseness.
Viewing angles are much better than on previous Sony Xperia models, but still they are not as perfect as on Samsung Galaxy A series device (or higher), or even HTC IPS LCD displays. On 5.0 inches, featuring 16M colors, it comes with thin edges around the display, it has a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution which means that pixel density is about 294 ppi.
In the end, the most important thing is to see how Xperia M4 Aqua preforms outdoors on direct sunlight. Again, it’s better than prevous Sony models in this price range, but still not as good as HTC or Samsnug in this price range or higher. To see for yourself, check our video below.
