When Android smart phones first arrived, we were thrilled to see Quake 3 on mobile phone. Today, games on smart phones are looking better and better and our expectations grow higher. The only disadvantage is handling. So, what would you say if you could connect PlayStation’s DualShock 3 controller on Xperia smart phone? Yes, Sony added DualShock 3 support to its Xperia devices – Xperia SP, Xperia Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z i Z2 – to enable more console-like gaming experience on smart phones.
How to connect?
If you don’t have DualShock 3 controller with your PlayStation console already, you can buy it for $50 on Amazon (links below). To connect it with Xperia, you will also need OTG cable that costs around $3. First connection goes via cable (miniUSB to OTG [On The Go] cable and into Xperia smart phone) when initially connecting your mobile phone and your DualShock 3 controller. After this first cable connection, everything works wireless via Bluetooth link, as you can see on our video.
With DualShock 3 controller you will get the best experience of gamin on mobile phone. It’s even better on tablet thanks to it’s big screen. Handling is more comfortable via DualShock controller, although some controls are mixed up from the way they work on PlayStation console. But it’s something you get used on after a while. Regarding supported Android games – there are more than 300 of them. For the full list check Android Gamepad Games. Any game listed on Google Play with “Controller Support” is supported.
